I used to think that at my age English was something I could only maintain. I did not really believe I could improve it seriously, speak more freely or feel confident in professional situations. Nine months later, I was standing in front of a group, giving a presentation in English and answering questions calmly. For me, it was not only a language course. It was a return of confidence.
When I took a longer pause from work, I realised it was a rare moment to do something for myself. English had always been my weak point in my professional life. I could read, understand and have normal conversations but presentations, questions after meetings and spontaneous discussions made me tense. I often felt that I was translating everything in my head before speaking.
At first, I thought I simply needed to improve my business English. Very quickly I understood that I needed something deeper. I wanted to feel more natural in the language, to speak without fear of mistakes and to use English as a real tool for communication. This is why I contacted Astra Education.
For me, several things were important. I wanted a school in a convenient location, somewhere I could walk to every day. But most of all, I wanted strong teaching and a serious learning environment. The nine months were much more powerful than I expected. In my class, there were people of different ages, from different countries and with different reasons for learning English. This helped me a lot. Little by little I stopped feeling embarrassed when I spoke. I began to express my thoughts more freely and English started to feel less like a subject and more like a living language.
The most important moment was my final presentation. I spoke in front of the group, then answered questions, and suddenly I realised that I was not hiding behind prepared phrases. I was really communicating. I had not felt such a strong sense of achievement for a long time.

This experience gave me much more than better English. It gave me back the confidence that it is possible to learn, grow and change at any age.
