School Description and Academics
Ipswich High School is traditional British school which strives to
provide an exceptional education and experience for every individual.
School's ethos is to put the happiness and success of each pupil
at the heart of everything the schooldoes.
Ipswich High is situated five miles from Ipswich and within one
hour train journey from both London and Cambridge in a safe,
coastal country setting.
An academically strong school Ipswich High offers a bespoke and
tailored curriculum for every individual taught by specialist teachers
in small class sizes. Students can choose from over 24 GCSE
subjects and 21 A Level subjects available including: Economics,
Computing and Classics. For international students the school provides
excellent English as an Additional Language (EAL) tuition.
In Sixth Form students follow a tailored curriculum based on three
A Level subjects and have opportunities to undertake an EPQ. The school
offers comprehensive university application guidance and support with
special provision for Oxbridge and Medicine applicants.
In 2020 98% of Year 13 students gained entry to their first choice
university.
Sports and Extra Curricular Activities
The school has focus on inclusivity and achievement and prides
itself in consistent success in netball, swimming, hockey and athletics.
Other sports facilities include 25m indoor swimming pool and
floodlit AstroTurf pitch. Children benefit from expert coaching and
teaching staff including Olympians and international athletes.
Students have an opportunity to excel in Music, Dance, Drama and
Art and Design and take advantage of full offer of art-based
subjects at GCSE and A Level. School plays and musical productions
are regular features of the school life.
